Safety and warnings

Warning
  • This battery is not rechargeable; attempting to charge it may cause electrolyte leakage or damage to the device.
  • When installing the battery, the '+' and '-' polarity must be correct, otherwise the battery may be charged or excessively discharged.
  • Do not short-circuit, heat, throw into fire or dismantle the battery.
  • Do not force-discharge the battery, as this causes excessive internal gas generation and may lead to swelling, leakage and explosion.
  • Do not mix new and old batteries; when replacing batteries, it is recommended to replace all batteries with the same brand and model at the same time.
  • Remove exhausted batteries from the battery compartment to prevent over-discharge, which can cause leakage and damage to the device.
  • Do not solder directly, as this will damage the battery.
  • Keep batteries out of the reach of children to prevent accidental swallowing; in the event of an accident, seek medical attention immediately.
  • Do not dismantle or deform the battery.
  • Do not store or carry batteries together with metal objects (such as keys or coins) to avoid short circuits.
  • Do not immerse the battery in water or expose it to high humidity.
  • Do not attempt to modify or directly solder the battery.
  • If the battery leaks, avoid contact with skin and eyes. In case of accidental contact, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical attention.
Caution
  • If battery fluid leaks and contacts the eyes, rinse immediately with running water for at least 15 minutes and consult an eye doctor immediately.
  • If the battery emits an odour, heats up, changes colour, deforms or shows any other abnormality during use/storage, remove it from the device immediately and dispose of it properly.
  • Do not mix batteries of different types, brands or significantly different capacities.
  • Avoid exposing the battery to extreme heat (e.g. direct sunlight or near radiators).

Disposal

Waste battery prevention and management information (pursuant to Article 74(1)(a)–(f) of Regulation (EU) 2023/1542) Introduction and legal basis This document is provided by Meizhou Bofuneng Technology Co., Ltd. (the "Manufacturer") pursuant to Article 74(1) of Regulation (EU) 2023/1542 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 12 July 2023 on batteries and waste batteries, which amends Directive 2008/98/EC and Regulation (EU) 2019/1020 and repeals Directive 2006/66/EC (the "Battery Regulation"). It sets out waste battery prevention and management information for the categories of batteries supplied by the Manufacturer in the Member States and is addressed to end users and distributors. This document applies to the lithium-ion (Li-ion) rechargeable batteries supplied by the Manufacturer. Lithium-ion batteries are widely used because of their high energy density and long service life. Their safe and sustainable use, and the correct handling of waste lithium-ion batteries, depend on the active contribution of each end user. The information below is intended to help end users use lithium-ion batteries correctly, extend their service life and dispose of them separately, thereby reducing the impact of batteries on the environment and human health.

Waste prevention and sustainable use End users play a crucial role in preventing battery waste. Waste prevention starts with correct use and care. End users are encouraged to: · use lithium-ion batteries only for their intended purpose and in accordance with the instructions provided by the manufacturer of the battery or of the device in which it is installed; · avoid exposing batteries to extreme temperatures, in particular direct sunlight, hot vehicles or heat sources, and avoid using them below the recommended operating temperature; · protect batteries from mechanical damage, including impact, dropping, crushing or piercing; · use only compatible, manufacturer-approved chargers and power supplies, and avoid overcharging; · avoid deep discharge; if the battery is not used for a long time, store it partially charged (usually 30–50%) in a cool, dry place and, where feasible, remove it from the device; and · where feasible, keep spare lithium-ion batteries in their original packaging or with insulated terminals when not in use. These practices help extend the service life of lithium-ion batteries, reduce the amount of waste batteries generated and lower the associated risks.

If a lithium-ion battery is still working, it can be reused in the same or a compatible application. Some lithium-ion batteries may also be suitable for preparation for re-use, preparation for repurposing, repurposing or remanufacturing, for example in second-life applications. Such operations may only be carried out by qualified professional operators after appropriate safety checks and testing and in compliance with applicable legal requirements. End users are encouraged to return functional or lightly used batteries to authorised collection points, where they can be assessed for such operations. Under Article 64 of the Battery Regulation and applicable national legislation, end users must dispose of waste batteries separately from unsorted municipal waste. Waste lithium-ion batteries must not be placed in household or general waste bins or littered: lithium-ion batteries discarded with mixed municipal waste pose a significant fire risk in waste treatment and recycling facilities.

Separate collection is essential for the proper treatment, recycling and recovery of the valuable materials contained in lithium-ion batteries (in particular lithium, cobalt, nickel and manganese) and to prevent environmental pollution and fire incidents. By returning waste batteries separately, end users enable these batteries to be prepared for re-use, repurposed or treated.

Collection, take-back and treatment systems Waste lithium-ion batteries can be returned free of charge through the following channels: · designated collection and recycling schemes set up by the producer or by a producer responsibility organisation acting on the producer's behalf;

· retailer and distributor take-back schemes at points of sale, where distributors provide batteries of the same type as the new battery; and

· municipal waste collection points and authorised waste collection facilities.

Collected waste batteries are handed over to authorised treatment operators, who prepare them for re-use, prepare them for repurposing or treat them in accordance with applicable environmental, safety and quality requirements. Waste lithium-ion batteries are usually recycled to recover valuable materials such as lithium, cobalt, nickel and manganese. The specific collection points and recycling systems may vary between Member States. End users should consult their local authorities or their retailer for information on the collection arrangements applicable in their country.

Safety instructions for handling waste batteries Waste lithium-ion batteries must be handled with care because they contain stored energy and flammable materials. End users should: · avoid crushing, piercing, dismantling or deforming the battery;

· prevent short circuits at the battery terminals, for example by covering the terminals with insulating tape or keeping the battery in its original packaging;

· store waste batteries in a cool, dry place away from flammable materials before collection;

· not expose waste batteries to high temperatures, fire or water; and

· take waste batteries to a designated recycling point promptly.

Compared with other types of batteries, lithium-ion batteries present additional risks, including the risk of fire and thermal runaway if damaged, misused or mishandled. Damaged, swollen, deformed or leaking batteries should be handled with particular care: where possible, place them in a non-conductive, flame-retardant container, away from flammable materials, and report them promptly to the relevant collection point or waste treatment operator. Never attempt to charge, dismantle or repair a damaged lithium-ion battery. In the event of a leak, avoid contact with the released substances and, as appropriate, seek advice from a qualified professional or the relevant emergency services.

Environmental and human health impacts Lithium-ion batteries may contain a variety of substances, including hazardous substances, which can adversely affect human health, safety and the environment if released. Improper disposal of waste lithium-ion batteries — such as littering, disposing of them as unsorted municipal waste or mixing them with other waste streams — can cause fires and thermal incidents, soil and water pollution, air pollution and threats to humans and wildlife, and results in the loss of valuable materials, including critical raw materials such as lithium, cobalt and nickel. Correct use, separate collection and proper handling of waste batteries help prevent these impacts, protect the environment and human health, and support the sustainable use of resources and the transition to a circular economy.
